You may activate the Character Palette on most Mac programs by going to Edit > Special Characters, or activate it by pressing the keyboard shortcut Control + Command + Space. You can find the heart symbol (♥︎) in Mac OS X character palette. Like the 1, 2 and 3 keys printed on the J, K and L keys. If your keyboard does not have a numeric keypad, you can still use these Alt codes by activating the Num Lock key and use the keys that have small numbers on the right side of the keyboard. You can try experimenting by holding down the Alt key and press one to four numbers in sequence. There are hundreds of special characters in Windows, like Alt+1 would key in a smiley (☺). For a (♥︎) symbol, press and hold Alt key, then press 3 on the numeric keypad on the right side of your keyboard. To activate the special characters on a Windows computer, press and hold the Alt key, then press the corresponding numeric key. So how do you actually type it in? We will show you how to do it from Windows and Mac. But the heart symbol key doesn’t exist anywhere on your keyboard. These are special characters often seen being used in social networking. On Facebook, you can express your love with a heart symbol (♥︎) or (❤︎).
